Episode #023: Delegate More Effectively with Fewer Errors [My System!]

This is not your “give away the $15/hr tasks podcast. I know you know that. But, do you have an ACTUAL SYSTEM to make sure your delegation is successful?

Are you guilty of saying any of the following statements?!?!

➡️ “No one can do this the way I can, so I’ll do it myself.”

➡️ “I do not have the right person on my team to handle this…so I guess it falls on me.”

➡️ “I can’t afford for anyone to make a mistake on this, so I’ll just handle it.”

➡️ “It’s just easier if I do it myself - it would take longer to explain it to someone than it would for me to just do it.”

➡️ “This is a sucky task and I hate to ask anyone else to do it - I want them to love their job.”

If you answered no… you’re a dirty liar. Kidding. But all of us make this mistake… especially early on in our careers. Most of us were never trained to be a boss and trained on how to delegate effectively. I don’t know about you, but this did NOT come naturally to me as I was scaling my practice.

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of the above, you are not alone! Chances are you could benefit a bit from learning a thing or two about how to be more effective in your delegation strategy.

And to be clear: Delegation is a means of strategically managing projects and tasks at their inception. Delegation is not, I repeat… delegation is NOT, a last-minute dump of responsibility onto someone else’s plate because you didn’t plan or prepare appropriately.
